The "cat food" is literally just lean, fat free kangaroo meat, thiamine, taurine and mineral preservative 223 and 316, all of which are edible and food grade.
It's not only cheaper than regular kangaroo mince, but also chicken mince, beef mince and premium beef mince, which is more lean and lower in fat.
Protein rich, cheap and tasty. Judge all you want, but it's the small things that help you get by when you're unemployed and struggling.

Where I live, pet foods are often lower priced because they are not human food grade, i.e the manufacturers don’t exactly follow the proper ways to handle the meat from day one to prevent health hazards to humans (let’s say, for example, the meat would be on a unsanitized surface before they pack it), but it’s fine for pet consumption.
I do not mean to sound condescending in any way, I am genuinely curious—are you sure it’s food grade and won’t cause you health hazards? If yes, how are you sure? Where are you getting your info?

Just a heads up, the cat food might not he safe to eat long term. It least in the states the added vitamins/minerals intended for the cat can become toxic to you if eaten over long periods.
Obviously different country, but possibly the same problems.

Well we do know now;) I don’t think I ever heard of kangaroo mince but I do live in Balkans and we do eat game meat and also we eat horse meat (quite delish also protein rich, lean and healthy) so I kinda understand where you are coming from!

I assume the difference between for human and animal consumption is the cut of the meat and it’s processing/handling.
You can buy kangaroo mince in Australian supermarkets, in the meat section. Usually only one brand of it, K-Roo, but it is good quality and fairly cheap. Steaks of it are good too.
I enjoy a kangaroo steak or mince for chili or stir frying, but would never eat it from pet food as I imagine it is not nearly as safe to eat, and who knows what part of the animal. It literally says “not safe for human consumption”.

OP if you live in the US (though doubtful based on this post) I will straight ship you a bunch of canned fish so you can have some long lasting protein actually meant for human consumption
hey just be aware you are taking a health risk here. i think you do know, but that meat can be considered Not Safe for Human Consumption. i’ve seen how this meat is handled and it’s not good enough.
Also consider that Kangaroos are not farmed. so now you have no idea how long it takes that animal once killed, to be slaughtered and how it is chilled in the food chain.
